In the Emergency Department, under the direction of the physician or midlevel provider, assists with airway management and ventilation; patient assessment, care and treatment; and traumas.
Triages patients and determines the nature and extent of illness, injury, classifies priorities for most immediate needs for treatment. Completes primary survey.
Administers medications, starts IVs, administers IV solutions, in accordance with established protocols approved by the Medical Director of Emergency Medical Services, Medical Director of Emergency Services, Chief Medical Officer, Chief Clinical and Nursing Officer, and the Medical Executive Committee.

Requirements
Qualifications:
Required Education: Graduate of an approved Paramedic Program; at least 21 years of age.
Required Experience: Minimum: One (1) year experience in an emergency department or related experience.
Required Certification/License/Registry: Minimum: Licensed Florida Paramedic. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification. Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification. Preferred: Pediatric Advanced Life Support certificate (PALS). All Certifications and Licenses are required at the time of hire. All Certificates and Licenses must be kept current as a condition of continued employment.
